Legend has it that Juan Martínez de Marcilla and Isabel de Segura were two young people who loved each other but could not get married because her father refused because of her economic condition.
Juan promised to return after five years working and with money, but on his return she had married. When Juan arrives, he asks her to kiss her, but she refuses, so he dies of sadness. When Isabel sees his corpse, she kisses him and dies on the spot.
This story from the 13th century has served as inspiration for several literary works and to place the mausoleum of both young men in the museum. The entrance ticket also gives access to the church of San Pedro and the tower.
