Discovering Rubielos de Mora and Puertomingalvo

Before entering the community of Aragon to visit the towns of Teruel, it is worth making a stop along the way, stretch your legs and get to know the city of Segorbe.
The first stop is in the middle of nature, more precisely on the banks of the Palancia River. To complete the visit to Segorbe, you have to enter the main church. Of small dimensions, you can visit the different chapels that it houses, a place of exhibition of sacred art, and the cloister. The paintings on the vault also deserve attention.
It is possible to take a guided tour, ask the person at the ticket office at the entrance to the church.

After lunch, there is enough energy to walk around the town. Its narrow streets and the palaces, churches and squares make you feel as if you were living in the Middle Ages.
Every detail is worth admiring, from the light brown color of the medieval buildings, through picturesque windows and doors and details on the facades.
Rubielos de Mora can be toured in about an hour, but if you stop to see details or enter a small museum, the visit can take up to two hours.

It is time to take the car again and drive a short stretch along the road to the viewpoint.
With a place to park on the side of the road, the views are amazing. The village of Rubielos de Mora is seen surrounded by mountains with its characteristic reddish roofs and the church tower protruding. Take your time to take pictures of the place.

Enjoy the views of this charming village of Teruel, built on the mountains and where the castle and church stand out.
Depending on the time of the year you visit, the panoramic view changes completely. In summer the green and brown colors of the surrounding landscape stand out, while in winter and with snow everything is dyed white.

The spectacular nature of the castle lies in its location, on a large overhanging rock on one of the sides of the village.
The fortress is accessed from the centre of town and inside you can see the parade ground, the walls and the keep, where there is currently a small museum. It also has a viewpoint overlooking the mountains.
The castle can be visited with a guided tour on Saturdays at 12:00 and 16:30 and Sundays at 12:00. From Tuesday to Friday, it is necessary to call previously to the telephone 661379513 or by mail to turismo@puertomingalvo.com to coordinate the schedule of the visit.
It is also possible to visit on Saturdays, holidays and long weekends from 11:00 - 14:00, 16:00 - 19:00 and Sundays 11:00 - 14:00.
The car can be parked in the centre of the village. From there it is only a five-minute walk to the castle.

A restaurant to taste typical Aragonese food and wines of the region. It is a simple place with homemade dishes and excellent service.
You can try their tapas or dishes that will fill you up, like the meatballs. Also, its famous sausages, even has a charcuterie inside to buy this delicacy.

From 16 July to 31 August: Every day: 10:00 - 22:00.

After touring Puertomingalvo and having dinner, in a few kilometres along the road you will reach the resting place.
