Waterfalls & Canyoning
This morning is taken up with an amazing canyoning experience at Bau Mela, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, you will hike down into the valley to see another incredible waterfall – this one flows from a hole in the cliff into a large natural pool - and explore the hidden cave behind it. There’s time for a late afternoon swim here before heading back to Cagliari, stopping for supper along the way.

Canyoning Bau Mela
Canyoning is a fun and exciting way to experience Bau Mela – a series of stunning, natural pools that flow into each other through a canyon of whitewashed granite, carved into weird formations by the flow of the water.
It’s a 5-minute walk into the canyon, from where you will descend, with the aid of a rope and harness, to the first, 10 metre-high waterfall. From there, it’s another couple of descents until you reach a huge natural pool – one of the highlights. Continuing the descent toward the bottom of the canyon, a wonderful water slide awaits before following a path back to the meeting point.
This experience is suitable for beginners (and children over 8 years) and your guide will provide you with everyone you need. You just need to wear sensible shoes – not flip flops.
The experience needs to be booked in advance. Book online.

Grotta Is Janas
This hike takes you to Su Stampu de su Tùrrunu, another beautiful waterfall which flows out of a hole in the cliff (Su Stampu means ‘the hole’) and cascades 16 metres over a cave in the rock before flowing into a large pool. It’s a spectacular natural wonder.
The starting point of the trail is at Grottas Is Janas, from where you will see steps and a trail leading into the forest down to the river. It takes around 45 minutes – 1hour to walk down. Once you’re at the river, you can swim in the pool and explore the cave before trekking back up to the road.
