    Circolo Nautico San Sebastiano

The first stop of the day is at the Nautical Club of San Sebastiano, from where you can rent paddleboats and kayaks to explore this beautiful lake. Lago Is Barrocus is an artificial lake that extends into the larger Lake Sebastiano. In the middle of the lake is an islet, atop of which is a small church which was abandoned as a place of worship in the late 19th Century after a tragic accident. The legend says that a young woman and her ‘beau’ were at a churchyard dance when a love rival showed up. The ensuing fight between the men culminating in them both falling tragically to their deaths over the cliffs. Despite this sad story, the islet is a beautiful place to kayak around.
It is recommended that the kayaks/paddleboats should be booked in advance. Book online.

    Terme Romane di Fordongianus

Fordongianus is an ancient Roman town famous for its thermal baths. Built in the Byzantine period (1st Century AD), the baths were fed by a natural hot spring that still flows through the town today. At this point in the river, natural bathing pools have been created so that you can experience this thermal spring. Do what the locals do and alternate between relaxing in one of the thermal pools (temperature is 54°C) and then cooling down in the river. Sitting in the open air, with a view of the Roman ruins, this has to be one of the best free spas in the world!
Meet the Forum Triani guide at the entrance to the Roman site for a tour of the baths and other structures within the complex, including the main square, a wonderful frescoed room, and the aqueduct/canal system.
Bathing in thermal waters is an ancient practice, originating from the Greeks and popularized by the Romans. At one time, there were over 800 spas in the city of Rome alone. These baths were multi-purpose: bathing was thought to have a therapeutic (detoxing) effect, but they were also a meeting place to discuss business and politics.
Roman baths traditionally had three rooms: a calidarium, a hot water bath to open the pores; a frigidarium, a cold water bath to close the pores, and a tepidarium to relax in. They even invented the steam room by channelling vapours from the ground into a small room.
The tour must be booked in advance. Book online. Note the complex is closed from 1pm-3:30pm

    Sacred Well of Santa Cristina

Santa Cristina is an archeological site dating to the Nuragic period; Nuragic referring to a Bronze Age civilization that is unique to Sardinia. The culture is most famous for the nuraghe (huge, stone towers) that they built. You can see the remains of a Nuragic village here but what is so special about this site is the well.
Sitting within the Nuragic ruins, the entrance to the well is a perfect trapezoid, with sharp-cut stones forming a staircase inside, to the bottom where the water is. What is so incredible about this structure is how geometrically perfect it is, given that it was built over 3000 years ago, and compared to the uneven and roughly made ‘circular’ buildings around it. What is even more fascinating is its lunar alignment. Not only does sunlight shine directly on the water inside the well during the summer solstice, but the moonlight also does the same at ‘lunistice’, which only occurs every 18.6 years.
To visit the site, you can either purchase tickets online here or at the ticket office on site.
