    Deanston Distillery

    Deanston Distillery is one of Scotland's youngest whisky distilleries, having been established in 1965, making use of an old cotton mill.
    Book onto a tour of the distillery and not only will be guided around the whisky making process, you will also get to see the set of the wine warehouse owned by Jared at the port of Le Havre in season 2's episode, "Through a Glass, Darkly".
    The visitor centre has an excellent cafe, so enjoy lunch here either before or after your tour.

    Doune Castle

    This imposing thirteenth century castle was the stronghold of Robert Stewart, son of King Robert II of Scots. Eventually, the Crown came to own the castle and it was subsequently used as a royal hunting lodge.
    Doune Castle has not been shy when it comes to TV and Film work, staring in Monty Python & The Holy Grail, as well as taking the guies of Winterfell in the pilot episode of Game of Thrones.
    However, Outlander fans will be more interested that the castle appeared throughout season 1 as Castle Leoch, the family stronghold of Clan Mackenzie. But this isn't the first glimpse viewers get of the castle, since Frank and Claire visit the castle ruins during their second honeymoon.
