Baños Árabes Cultural center, Villardompardo Palace

The Arab baths were built in the 11th century, however after the city was conquered in 1246, several years later, they were no longer being used as bathhouses. Later, in the 16th century, a mansion was built by the Count of Villardompardo and Viceroy of Peru, Don Fernando de Torres y Portugal. The Count had left the baths concealed during the 18th and 19th centuries. They were later discovered by Don Enrique Romero de Torres in 1913 during an inspection of the palace. 18 years later, they were declared a National Monument.
The Arab baths are considered to be among the best-preserved and largest bathhouses in Europe. They are known as the Baños de Alí (Ali's baths) and are considered the city's most important monument. Along with the bathhouses in the basement, they now house 2 museums, the Manuel Moral International Museum of Naïf Art and the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions.
Entrance to the Arab Baths is free.

The Mezquita of Córdoba is the largest Muslim building in Western Europe. It was built on a Roman temple and historians say that this was a temple of worship for the Roman god Janus.
The Mosque was converted into a Cathedral in the 13th century. It's also one of the oldest structures still standing from the time Muslims ruled Al-Andalus in the late 8th century. The Mosque was built in the year 785 CE by Abd ar-Rahman.
A key point in the prayer hall is the famous horseshoe arched mihrab or prayer niche. A mihrab is used in a mosque to seek out the nearest point on the wall that faces Mecca and in turn the direction in which the congregation will face when in prayer.
