    Skallingen/Høje Knolde Strand

Skallingen beach is a beautiful wild beach with high sand dunes and wetlands leading inland. This beach is a bit of a curiosity to some as it was once used by the Nazis, where they laid over 72,000 mines in case of an invasion. Although most of the beach is now cleared due to a major clean-up operation, there are still sections where you can't walk in case there are still some buried in the sand. Make sure to check the tide times as the road can flood, which means the beach isn't accessible by car.
