    Day 1

    36 mi

Sella Pass and Pordoi Pass, between Val Gardena and Val di Fassa

Leave the city and head up the Adige Valley, past vineyards, castles, and hill and mountain villages. As you ascend into the valleys of South Tyrol, the scenery changes, the roads become narrower, and you climb to the majestic Dolomite peaks, the scene of great ski slopes. Between bends, you reach high above, below the rocks of Sass Pordoi. Climb it (by cable car) and you will not regret it!

From Val Badia to Val Pusteria, the land of Lake Braies

Today we wake up in a mountain village, perfect for a breakfast with a view before hitting the road to another mountain pass, the Falzarego. Photo stops to admire the view, descending into the small villages of Val Badia, such as San Cassino and La Villa. Then on to Brunico, with its castle overlooking the town. After a stroll through the streets of the center, it's back in the car towards... Lake Braies! You surely know the fame of this jewel in the middle of the mountains. End the day in San Candido, between biking and shopping for typical products such as speck, a cured meat that is very famous in the area.

The panorama of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo and the road to Cortina

After breakfast there are plenty of curves to drive, a nice on-the-road adventure awaits you on your way back to Verona. First stop the viewpoint of the 3 Cime di Lavaredo. They will be seen from afar, but it is just a taste of going all the way to the base of the mountains, past Lake Misurina. From here the 3 Croci Pass separates you from Cortina, another jewel of the Alps and famous for hosting the Olympics (in 1956, but also the next one, in 2026) and a vacation destination for many Italian VIPs. From Cortina you travel to Feltre and to Bassano, both nice stops for an aperitif before arriving in Verona. Enjoy your trip!
