Exploring the South West Coast of Garda Lake

Park your car before visiting the nice little town of Desenzeno del Garda.

Walk around the old port of Desenzano del Garda. It is very picturesque with the little colorful boats.

It is definitely worth going up the hill to the castle for the amazing views on the town and the lake. Small exhibitions inside.
Open hours from April 12th to September 30th Tuesday - Sunday 10:00 - 18:00 Closed on Mondays The rest of the year, it is only open on Saturdays and Sundays until 17:30.

The Roman villa is a very interesting visit for its very well preserved mosaics. The villa was built at the end of the 1st century BC. but the remains you can see nowadays are from the 4th century AD.

Rocca di Manerba is an archeological site on a hill. So from up there, you will get spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding countryside. There is a big cross and you can walk around the ruins of a medieval castle. The parc is protected by Unesco.

When you arrive in Salo, you can park your car right by the museum. The museum of Salo is very interesting to visit. You will find archeological artefacts, ancient and contemporary art, as well as exhibit and posters from World War II and Mussolini.

After visiting the museum, walk around the promenade by the lake. It is a very pleasant walk with beautiful views on the lake.

Il Vittoriale degli Italiani is a spectacular site to visit. Quite extravagant, it is hard to describe, you'll find many crazy things here. The villa has many architectural and artistic styles, the gardens going up and down the hill offer great views on the lake. There is even a full-size battleship in the middle of the gardens. You can go inside and around. And there are a few little museums in the gardens as well. It is definitely worth spending sometime here.
