Beautiful Sirmione

Park your car for free on this parking lot to visit Peschiera del Garda on foot.

Come into the old town of Peschiera del Garda through this door and walk around the historical center crossing bridges and seeing the fortifications and canals that make this small town interesting.

You can park your car here if there is space, otherwise, you might have to park a bit further away. Sirmione is the most beautiful place in the Garda Lake and a very popular spot in summer and week-ends so if you can go on a week day it would be easier. Also you can check with your hotel for parking.

Have lunch at this nice restaurant next to the castle of Sirmione that you will visit after (or before, up to you). They have very good local food, try the duck or the trout from the lake.
Open hours Friday - Wednesday 12:00 - 15:00, 18:30 - 22:30 Closed on Thursdays.

The castle is such a beautiful structure by the lake at the entrance of Sirmione, guarding the bridge that goes into town. The visit inside is definitely worth it for the walk around the fortifications and the view from the tower.
Open hours Tuesday - Saturday 8:30 - 19:30 Closed on Sundays and Mondays.

From the castle to the "Grotte di Catulo", you will walk through the small island of Sirmione until the end. It is a beautiful place with colorful houses and gardens, take your time and enjoy the surroundings.
This archeological site called the caves of Catulo shows the ruins of a Roman villa from the 1st century AD. It is the largest domestic Roman villa in Northern Italy. The site occupies 2 hectares at Sirmione's northern tip on a hill offering fantastic views over the lake. Very mazing site, don't miss it.

After visiting the ruins, take the little pathway on your right to go down onto Jamaica beach. It is called like this because it looks like Jamaica supposedly. It's a bit exaggerated but the lake looks very nice with clear water and it is a great place to have a swim and relax.
There is also a bar right there so you can have a drink and a snack if you want.

You might want to check in at your hotel and have a shower after the beach and before dinner. This is probably the best restaurant in Sirmione. Very good service and traditional food.
