You will be able to see it by making a trip to these two cities, visiting the fortress rampart and powder cellar of Azov, visiting the grocery store and the house of his father A.P. Chekhov - merchant of the third guild. ** Book hotels along the route with cachebacks up to 10%. At the end of the route you will find a special offer for Mastercard holders!

Travel Itinerary and Road Trip Route

Day 1: Hello, Azov!

The journey begins with a move to the city of Azov. A sightseeing tour of the city with a visit to the Azov fortress, gunpowder cellar and Paleontological Museum Reserve will take literally the whole day.

Крепостной вал

During its existence, the Azov fortress passed from the Ottoman Empire to Russia and back several times. Therefore, the earth wall and the walls of the fortress itself have been preserved quite well. Defensive weapons are now used as photo objects. From the height of the rampart you can admire beautiful views of the city and port.

Пороховой погреб

No less interesting museum, which is located near the Azov fortress. A unique exposition, thanks to which you can see what and how the old guns and mortars were loaded. The museum has an interactive square "Fortress", which is conventionally divided into 7 zones that introduce the life of the Petrovskaya army of the XVII-XVIII centuries: a soldier's kitchen, a bath, an infirmary, a carcass, a stationery, a shooting gallery, a battleground. There are also free master classes, photo sessions and creative activities.

Ресторан "Крепостной Вал"

We're staying for lunch at Fortress Shaft Restaurant. Great place, friendly staff, delicious dishes according to ancient recipes, huge portions that you can take with you if necessary.

Петровская Площадь

After a busy lunch we suggest taking a walk in the center of Azov. We'll start with Petrovskaya Square, a favorite place for leisure of local residents.

Памятник Петру I

The monument to young Peter I was put here for a reason. The capture of Azov is his first victory. Everyone who comes here usually takes a photo as a memento.

Азовский историко-археологический и палеонтологический музей-заповедник

We recommend you to visit the Azov paleontological museum-reserve. This is one of the largest such museums in the South of Russia. Here you can see the richest collection of paleontological exhibits. Besides visiting exhibitions and exhibitions, you can also take part in exciting quests. For children, the quest "TikTok of times" has been developed, where participants will contact monk Nestor with the help of the most popular social network among teenagers TikTok. Adults who want to take part in the quest are offered to become heroes of the new reality show "Azov and Tails". The exact time of thematic excursions can be found in the box office of the museum complex or by phone, indicated on [site](

Петровский бульвар

After the museum-reserve we will continue our way along Petrovsky Boulevard. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll.

Азовский городской парк культуры и отдыха

We will finish our walk in the ancient Azov city park of culture and leisure. It is a soulful and favorite place for all Azov citizens.

Day 2: From Azov to Taganrog!

On the second day we will go to the Azov Sea in the city of Taganrog, where the great Russian writer A.P. Chekhov was born. In addition to the house-museum of AP Chekhov we will visit the Taganrog Art Museum, go down to the sea on a beautiful ancient stone staircase and walk along the embankment. Journey will conclude with a dinner at the restaurant "Magadan" in Rostov-on-Don.

Маяк В Мержаново

*Interesting place for pictures * with an equally interesting story. Initially Merzhanovo farm was the most usual settlement, without any sights. But one day they decided to shoot part of the scenes of the Russian series "The Lighthouse Keeper". The building was built quickly enough and is now considered a local landmark that attracts both tourists and locals.

Лавка Чеховых

When you get to Taganrog, you go to the Chekhovs' Shop first thing. In addition to the interesting exposition in the shop you can buy very tasty tea, coffee and various souvenirs. You can go to the shop from Tuesday to Sunday.

Фрекен Бок

After a long trip to Taganrog, you should take a lunch break at the Frecken Bock Cafe. The menu of this place is a small masterpiece (the names of dishes in any will cause a delight). There is a special children's menu.

Таганрогский художественный музей

This museum is called "The Pearl of the South of Russia". There are paintings by famous artists: F.S. Rokotov, I.E. Repin, V.I. Surikov, I.I. Shishkin and I.I. Levitan. A.P. Chekhov was actively involved in the creation of the museum and in replenishing its collection. The aroma of the beginning of the last century is still present here... Please note the museum is closed on Mondays.

Мемориальный музей "Домик Чехова"

A.P. Chekhov's father was a merchant of the third guild and bought this house only because it was located near his grocery store. The living conditions in which Chekhov grew up were quite modest. As a child, he and his brother slept on a big chest in the passage room. But it was here that little Antosha started writing his first stories. In the evenings, in the light of a kerosene lamp, he read them to his family. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday.

Каменная Лестница

This unique attraction is located in the ancient part of the city. There's a sun clock upstairs before the descent. Once downstairs, you find yourself on a beautiful promenade that runs along the sea shore. You can walk along it to the beautiful new park, where locals spend their leisure time.

In Rostov-on-Don we'll stop for dinner at Magadan restaurant. It's a great place to rest after a long journey. Cozy atmosphere, polite staff, and most importantly - delicious dishes of European cuisine. The specialty is spaghetti with White Sea mussels. **Pay your bill at restaurants of Novikov Group with exclusive discount of 10%.
