Nature's riches for the eyes and body

The first point of our route today will be the colonnade, one of the "visiting cards" of the city.

St. Nicholas Cathedral is a cathedral temple of Kislovodsk.
If you visit the cathedral during a service, be sure to pay attention to the church singing: the double choir creates an unusual effect of three-dimensional sound.

Everyone knows well the literary works written by great Russian poets in the Caucasus and about the Caucasus, but we know much less about pictorial works.
This museum corrects the omission by introducing you to the works of the artists-Peredvizhnikov, in particular Nikolai Alexandrovich Yaroshchenko, who owned the manor from 1885 to 1915.
The museum is very original, preserving the look and atmosphere of the period of the artist's life. Among the paintings you can see works that are not found in catalogs.
Next to the museum is a charming garden, be sure to check it out.

Now you will continue your exploration of the Kislovodsk Resort Park, it is the second largest man-made park in Europe. Its area is almost 1000 hectares.
In the park there is a famous holy spring, just a few steps away from the Olkhovka River. It is also called the holy spring of Nicholas the Wonderworker. It is believed that its waters have healing properties, so it is a popular place not only among tourists but also among local residents.

You will find one more beautiful place of Kislovodsk - Mirror pond.
This is an artificial pond and stylized waterfall, called Glass Stream. The pond receives water from a "seven-degree spring", the most courageous bathe in it even in winter.

Continuing your walk through the park, admire the graceful bridge, a favourite spot for photo ops for all holidaymakers.

From the waterfall begins the journey to the observation deck on Pine Mountain.

A beautiful view of the city and the mountains opens up from this observation platform. In clear weather you can see Elbrus.

After a long climb, it's nice to relax in a beautiful place.
The Tea House cafe is one of the best in town. It specializes in desserts and drinks, but the main menu is a full-bodied one, too. You can try such traditional regional dishes as kebab and shashlik. The vegetable dishes are especially good!
The cafe is very popular, so you have to wait a bit for your order at peak times.

With renewed vigor, set out to explore the natural beauties.
The Red Stones, one of the park's main natural attractions, are on your way.
These rocks consist of sandstone, but have been washed by water with iron for a long time, so they have become brown on the outside.
At the top of the rocks stands a sculpture of an eagle tormenting a snake. According to the legend, the eagle, bitten to death by a snake, survived by falling into the spring of healing waters. Nowadays, the bird is a symbol of the Caucasian Mineral Waters resorts.

Stop to take a break and admire the panorama at the Temple of the Air, a graceful pavilion that offers a wonderful view of Elbrus and the surrounding mountains.
The pavilion is now an outdoor library and reading room.

We are now on our way to the Valley of the Roses.
There are more than 35 varieties of roses planted in the valley, selected so that from mid-June to the end of September there are blooming bushes in the valley.
The main avenue leads up to the climb to the observation deck.

On your way out of the park, admire another of its landmarks, the Cascade Stairs.

After a long walk, you're probably hungry, so dinner will be early tonight.
In the cafe "Old Baku" you can try the national meat dishes (yes, it's not just shish kebab and kebab), thick rich or light and refreshing soups, pkhali and dolma.
And for dessert - baklava, sherbet and rose petals jam.
