The Valley of the Temples and a White Cliff

On this second day you will visit some of the most interesting places in this part of the island of Sicily. In the morning you can climb the Castle of Lombarida, in Enna, to see Etna volcano from its tower (weather permitting).
Afterwards, you will visit some corners of the historical centre of Agrigento and visit the Valley of the Temples, an incredible archaeological site where you will be able to see and photograph several Doric temples.
At the end of the day you will pass by the Scala dei Turchi, a natural formation of white rock that descends like a staircase to the sea. The suggestion is to have dinner in a nearby restaurant and drive to Marinella di Selinunte for the night.

    Chiesa Santa Chiara

Start the day early and after a hearty breakfast in the hotel, go for a walk along via Roma, the main street of the Enna town. On the way you will pass several shops, the Pollicarini palace and the Santa Chiara church.
You can buy some snacks on the way to have for the rest of the day, especially on the visit to the Valley of the Temples.
Note: You can leave your car at the hotel (by previous arrangement with them) or take it to the car park near the castle. If you leave it at the castle, don't forget to walk along via Roma to buy some snacks and see some of the typical stone buildings of the town.

    Lombardia Castle

The main activity to do in Enna is to climb up to the Castle of Lombardy for the views over the valley and, if the day is clear, to see the imposing silhouette of the volcano Etna.
It is a medieval castle that nowadays has six towers, but only one can be visited: the Torre Pisana. From its top you can enjoy views of the valley and Etna.

This Doric building was also built in the second half of the 5th century BC and is one of the best preserved in the area (you can see its capitals). It is said to have been dedicated to the Greek gods Castor and Pollux, but there is no archaeological evidence to support this.

The most characteristic temple in the area is the one known as the Temple of Castor and Pollux (although it is believed that it was actually intended for other gods). Part of the temple was reconstructed.

    Temple of Vulcano (Hefestos)

The Temple of Vulcan is located to the west of the Garden of Kolymbetra, a garden full of olive, orange and lemon trees for which there is a separate entrance fee and which is only open until 15:00.
