In search of the famous pretzel.

The castle was founded in 1293 during the Third Swedish Crusade. The naval militia landed on the coast of the Gulf of Finland in the area of today's Vyborg and ravaged a Karelian settlement and a Karelian guardhouse on a small island. The Swedes laid a castle on the island and named it Vyborg, which means "Holy Fortress" in Old Swedish.
The entrance to the Castle Island is open daily from 9:00 to 19:00.
Observation deck on the tower of St. Olaf is open: Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 12:00 to 16:00.
Museum "Vyborg Castle" is open every day except Monday from 10:00 to 18:00.

The colorful, boulder-built two-story house was built on the hillside in the 16th century. For many centuries, the house was owned by rich merchants or artisans. The basement had a workshop and a warehouse, the ground floor had a meeting room and a small kitchen, and the second floor had bedrooms.
Be sure to go up to the second floor and find a small coffee shop where you can buy the famous pretzels and make a quick stop for a cup of tea.
Hours of operation: daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Here they sell beautiful marzipan with the symbols of Vyborg. The local gingerbread also looks nice. There are souvenir ones with the symbols of Vyborg, and some are just funny.
As a gift for children we recommend to bring a useful and tasty souvenir - a paper bundle with nuts. You can also buy excellent chocolates and lollipops on a stick.
