Let’s Get High. Saas-Grund and the Hohsaas

You can park your car on the 'Parkplatz' near the park. Schadau Park is a beautiful place to start your day. In summer you can take a boatride or dip in the water. There is a little train ride for the kids. From here you have great views on the lake of Thun.

Park 300m from the point, near BSL The fun thing of a roadtrip is you sometimes can just park your car for a few minutes and hop out to enjoy a good view, without having to walk for ages to get there. This is a good spot to stop for a little while and take some cool pictures of the lake. Click! Take your time to stretch your legs a little and get the blood flowing, because it is a one and half hour drive to your lunch spot.

Here you can find the highest mountains of Europe (Matterhorn and Dufourspitze). Wallis is next to the French and Italian border and because it is so far south, there are many hours of sunshine to enjoy. Okay, okay, good to know, but how about that lunch? Well, there is lots to choose from and it is served by a very friendly staff. Also, the terrace where you can enjoy your food is lovely and cool.

You can park your car here and walk to the cable cart station. It will take you just a couple of minutes.

You have arrived in Saas-Grund, in Saas valley. From here you will take a cable cart up the mountain. You can choose to go to the first station and walk to the top station, or you can take two cablecart rides all the way to the top. If you don't need to go to the top, you can also just go to the first station because that place itself is worth the ride and you can spend some time there enjoying the view, laying in de grass or take a little stroll.
Keep good track of time, because you don't want to miss the cable cart ride back.

Did you enjoy the views? Wasn't that cable cart ride awesome? Saas-Grund is a very small, authentic town. Your next stop is your dinner stop 15 minutes away, so if you want to take a little stroll around the village now you can.

Mountain air makes hungy, and this restaurant will definately satisfy your hunger. This atmospheric place has a wonderful menu to choose from. There is game on the menu, and there are light dishes as well. Furthermore there is a whole section with original Swiss dishes, like rösti and cheese, lots of cheese. Mmmmmmm.
