    Grand Day at the Canyon

You know what this day is all about: the Grand Canyon. As famous and popular as it is, heading up to Utah means that this legendary National Park must be visited. Check out a great way to plan your visit, and a few other amazing stops along the way.

    Red Mountain Trail

This is a well-kept secret just north of Flagstaff. Red Mountain Trail has the feel of some of Utah's slot canyons and other red rock areas. The trail is rarely too busy, and has terrific views the whole duration of the hike. Additionally, you will often see or hear packs of coyotes and other critters on this more remote section.

Grand Canyon Village Market & Deli

Grab an unfussy lunch at the Canyon Village Market. With simple fare to choose from, or simple groceries to put together a little picnic, you cannot go wrong fueling up at the park's general store. The Deli has solid sandwiches, and the store has a surprisingly large (if a little pricey) selection of groceries. This is the quickest and easiest way to have lunch before starting your day at the Grand Canyon. Open 7am-8pm daily

    Grand Canyon Visitor Center

Take some time to browse the fantastic and rather large Visitor Center east of the village. There are terrific exhibits informing you on everything from the geological to the human history of the canyon. Chat with a ranger to figure out what you might like to do with your time at the park. After checking out the Visitor Center, walk the rim trail to Grand Canyon Village. The flat, mostly paved trail takes you to some of the best vistas on the canyon, and there are various signs and educational points along the way. More information here

    Desert View Watchtower

After visiting the entrance and village, hop in the car and head east to the famous Desert View Watchtower. This viewpoint and tower are the best spots to watch sunset in the park. Off to the east you can even see the glimmer of the Colorado River flowing! Take some time to walk around and up the Watchtower, and snap plenty of photos.

    Yavapai Tavern

Dinner time! While Tusayan has some dining options, the Yavapai Tavern in the Park continues to prove itself as the best no-frills dinner spot. With prices that aren't as marked-up as some other parks, and tasty burgers and pizzas, there is something for everyone at Yavapai. Open daily noon to 10pm
