    European Museum Schengen

Following the road that runs parallel to the German border you will reach a city that became an icon of Europeanism: Schengen. In case you don't know, the Schengen area is the area that includes the 26 European countries that have abolished border controls at the common internal borders and therefore allows freedom of movement.
The European Museum, dedicated to the history and importance of the Schengen agreement, opened in this Luxembourg town in 2010. In its 200 m2 exhibition area you can see in a simple and interactive way the progress of the Europe of borders towards a unified Europe with common citizenship. The abolition of border controls within the Schengen area was the first step in the implementation of the four freedoms established by the 1957 Treaty of Rome: free movement of goods, workers, services and capital.

Domaines Vinsmoselle - Caves des Vignerons Wellenstein

Domaines Vinsmoselle is the largest producer of wine and crémant in Luxembourg. But... what is a Crémant? It is a sparkling wine that is made using the traditional method - the champenoise method (with secondary fermentation in the bottle), but they cannot use this name because it is limited to the Champagne appellation.
Since 1921, this wine cooperative, which brings together 240 winegrowers from various localities along the meandering Moselle River (from Schengen to Wasserbillig), has been producing wines of excellent quality that have won prizes in various international competitions.
The Caves des Vignerons de Wellenstein was founded in 1930. Today, this site is the largest and most important of the four domaines that make up Domaines Vinsmoselle. You can take a one-hour visit to its main production site to discover the history of Luxembourg's largest wine producer and the secrets of its fabulous wines.

    Abbey of Echternach

The Basilica of St. Willibrord in Echternach is a 7th century Benedictine monastery well known for its traditional Christian dancing procession that dates back to 1100 and is held annually every Pentecost Tuesday. About 8000 dancers come out in groups to the sound of chanting - something unique!
The basilica, whose present design dates from the 11th and 13th centuries, was badly damaged during the Battle of the Bulge (1944-1945) in World War II and was rebuilt in Romanesque Renaissance style.
The crypt has beautiful frescoes and a magnificent white marble sarcophagus containing the remains of St. Willibrord, English apostle of the Frisians and founder of the abbey of Echternach. Other points of interest are its garden, the Orangerie and the elegant pavilion.
Echternach is one of the main religious, cultural and artistic centers of Luxembourg.

    Orangerie

Echternach's best kept secret. The Orangerie is often overlooked by many tourists. It was once the abbey's guesthouse surrounded by fruit trees and is now the educational center of the town. The green gardens dotted with trees and a romantic pond with tents make this place an idyllic retreat.
