Welcome visitor to Rio de Janeiro! This place has been my home for several years so I am able to recommend you the best destinations for your itinerary! The first day you will see a first approach of RJ and in particular the Escadaria Selarón! The second day instead you will go to visit the main attractions of the city: from Cristo Redentor to the Maracanã stadium. On the third day you will submerge yourself in the depths of the Rio aquarium and then climb up to the breathtaking view of the Vista Chinesa. The fourth day will be the most adventurous of your trip: you will immerse yourself in the waterfalls of the Tijuca National Park and then admire the beautiful landscape that you can only see from the Pao de Acucar cable car. On the fifth day you will move to the city of Petrópolis always in Rio de Janeiro to observe a landscape that you never expected! This was the summer resort of Emperor Pedro II and you will see the imperial palace! The sixth day ends the visit of Petrópolis with small museums that are rich in history. On the last day you will visit Niterói with its Museum of Contemporary Art which has become a symbol of the city. This is just the beginning of what awaits you on your journey. Let's start!

    Rio de Janeiro: Bem-vindo!

This is the first day we will spend in Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the most famous cities in Brazil, full of tourist attractions. The name of the city literally means "river in January" linked to its discovery on January 1, 1502. The golden beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema make it one of the most chosen destinations for those who love the sea. Walking through the streets of Rio you will be overlooked by the statue of Cristo Redentor that embraces the whole town. We cannot forget the great greenery of the Tijuca forest and the beautiful Rio Carnival that make this city unique.

Rio de Janeiro: From "Cristo Redentor" to Maracana

On this second day of yours in Rio de Janeiro I think it is right to go and visit the statue of "Cristo Redendor" located on the top of Corcovado mountain. In the second part of the day I take you to visit the temple of football in Brazil: the maracana stadium where the greatest players in history have set foot: Pele, Zico, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Kaka, ...

Rio de Janeiro: From the Deep Ocean to the Peaks!

Today you have a beautiful program: you will see what the deep Atlantic ocean hides. Immediately afterwards your lungs will fill with pure oxygen inside the Jardim Botânico, the botanical garden within the city. Your day will end inside the Tijuca National Park where you can see the beautiful Horto Waterfalls!

Rio de Janeiro: Between Waterfalls, Breathtaking Landscapes and Culture.

Today your day will have fewer routes to see but it will nevertheless be less adventurous and less fun. Your route today consists of the trillha, the Brazilian word for climbing, among the beautiful waterfalls of the Tijuca National Park. Here you will have the whole morning at your disposal to enjoy a refreshing morning in the greenery and then admire the beautiful landscape that the Pão de Açúcar offers you, climbing the cable car that will make you admire another point of view of Rio. Another destination will be the Theatro Municipal do Rio, one of the most important theaters in the whole of Brazil.

Petrópolis: the landscape that you don't expect in Rio de Janeiro!

For three days I recommend that you try a new landscape that you never expected to see in Rio De Janeiro: it is the town of Petrópolis. It is a Rio's municipality in the forests of the Serra dos Órgãos, in the valley of the Quitandinha and Piabanha rivers. Petrópolis is one of the most popular holiday destinations among Brazilians. The city was named "city of Pietro" by the emperor Pietro II of Brazil and this was his summer residence of the empire or aristocrats in the nineteenth century. Petrópolis was the official capital of the Rio De Janeiro' state between 1894 and 1902. Your first day in Petrópolis will see the Imperial Museum inside the Imperial Palace. Then you will visit the magnificent Catedral de São Pedro de Alcântara, dedicated to the patron saint of the city. Finally, after dinner, I suggest a visit to the beautiful and brightly lit Quitandinha Palace Congress and Convention Center. Get the car and get ready for the journey!

    Petrópolis: Last day!

Today I recommend that you take a look at all the tourist attractions that Petrópolis offers you! The ones I put on your itinerary are to start with the Palácio de Cristal, a historic building. Then try to be punctual because only from 11.00 to 12.00 you can visit La Grande Vallée, since you are passionate about the opera "O pequeno príncipe" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry you can't miss! After lunch you will have three different museums which can take up your afternoon. I thought you can dine in a historical place like Cervejaria Bohemia! So first a nice visit to one of the best attractions in the city and you can also stop for a meal.

Niterói: Last day in Rio de Janeiro!

I planned the last day in Rio de Janeiro so you can visit the Niterói region. I first tell you to go and see Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói, the contemporary art museum housed in a beautiful and unique structure. After lunch, I put in your itinerary two hours of beach in the beautiful Itacoatiara Beach and then visit one of the most beautiful fortresses of Rio, Fortaleza de Santa Cruz da Barra. Here you will admire the Atlantic Ocean before saying goodbye to the city of Rio de Janeiro and heading to the airport. From today you may feel saudade (Brazilian word to say nostalgia) of this beautiful city called Rio de Janeiro!
