    Faskally Forest

Enjoy a walk around Faskally Forest, taking in the diverse collection of tree species which were planted in the nineteenth century and used as a living school for young foresters.
Season 4's trip to the Mohawk village was filmed here. Interestingly, Outlander flew over one hundred actors from the Canadian First Nations to play the parts of the Mohawks.

    Highland Folk Museum

This open-air museum has collected an impressive range of historic Scottish buildings, with exhibits stretching all the way back to the 1700's.
It was these authentic Culloden-era structures that drew the filming crew of Outlander during season 1's tax collection episode "Rent". Little imagination is needed to visualise Claire helping the village women dye their clothe with urine!

Outlander film location (Craigh na Dun)

The locus and top bucket list item for many Outlander fans is a visit to the fictional Craigh na Dun, to see where Claire was transported through time. This scenic site overlooking Dunalastair Water and under the shadow of the mysterious mountain, Schiehallion, may not be crowned with ancient stones (they were only filming props), but it is still a breathtaking location.
Park at the gate just off the road and walk up to the little hillock.

    The Devil's Pulpit

The beautiful, steep-sided gorge known as The Devil's Pulpit, or more formally as Finnich Glen, seems to have the aura of being an other worldly place, especially when you see the red-tinged water (the sandstone below the surface gives the impression of the water being red).
Filming for season 1 occured here when The Devil's Pulpit was used for Liar's Spring, where Claire is asked by Dougal whether she is a spy or not.
There is limited parking where the road crosses the Carnock Burn. There is a small gate that leads to a footpath. Care needs to be taken when walking the path, especially when descending Jacob's ladder, as the it can be quite wet and slippy. To fully explore The Devil's Pulpit, wellington boots would be a great idea, with waterproof shoes being a minimum.
