Enjoying Nature and Observing Animals in Dubai

Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is an incredible place, located in the heart of Dubai city between several highways in a truly unexpected location. Yet it forms part of Dubai Creek and covers 6.2 square kilometres, with mangroves, lagoons, mud and salt flats. You can admire beautiful pink flamingos from the little watchtower.
And if you are a passionate birdwatcher you will be able to spot a multitude of different birds, as this is an important stopover point for migratory birds flying from East Africa to West Asia. More than 170 species pass through here.

The Green Planet is an indoor tropical forest housing more than 3,000 plants and animals. This is the perfect venue to learn about nature, biodiversity and sustainability, and it features numerous activities for children and adults alike. You can snorkel with piranhas, for example, and meet the first anaconda in Dubai.
Not only that, but you can also feel what it is like to be in a tropical environment by experiencing a thunderstorm. And you will have encounters with really cool animals like sloths, ants, snakes, spiders, sugar gliders, parrots, and so on. There is even a bat cave on the fourth floor!

If you like steak, you are in the right spot. You can have lunch here and choose your favourite way of getting your steak cooked. This is the place for meat lovers. But you have other options as well. Butcha Steakhouse is located in the very interesting area of the city called City Walk, which is pedestrianized and a great place to wander around, with numerous shops, cafés and restaurants.

Dubai Miracle Garden is a really impressive place to observe beautiful fresh flowers. The area covers 72,000 square metres and features more than 150 million blooms. The floral compositions come in hundreds of different artistic shapes, including animals, cartoon characters, and so on.
There is even an Emirates Airlines Airbus A380 plane made entirely of flowers. This is the largest fresh flower garden in the world. It is a great visit for the whole family, and kids will love it for sure.
Please note that since the flowers are fresh and need a lot of water, the garden is closed in the summer. It reopens in October when the weather starts to cool off. Make sure to check its opening times on the official website in advance.

Dubai Butterfly Garden is located right next to the Miracle Garden. You will be able to observe 15,000 butterflies from over 50 species. They are flying all around you in 10 custom-built domes covering an area of 6,673 square metres. You can learn everything about the life and evolution of butterflies in this world's largest covered butterfly garden.

Al Maha is just a one-hour drive from the bustling city of Dubai, but it feels like an entirely different world. Here, you find yourself in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, which represents 5% of the Emirate of Dubai's total land area. This is a place to relax in a luxury, ecotourism resort.
Take advantage of this amazing location to enjoy the surrounding desert nature, and make sure you see the sunset from the sand dunes. You can also take part in different activities, such as camel riding, for example. Also don't forget to enjoy the spa because hotels like this are there to be enjoyed too, not just for sleeping. They also have a superb restaurant for dinner.
