Presa del embalse de José Torán

This impressive dam was completed in 1992, so it is quite new. Although the ‘90 are longer ago than we always think right? The surface of its basin is 234 km2. The type of dam is called Vault. It has a concrete curvature in the vertical plane and in the horizontal plane. The dam has a height above foundations of 77 m, a height above the channel of 69 m and a crest length of 362 m. The José Torán Dam was built for Irrigation, water supply and recreation.

    Antigua Fábrica de Harinas

If you like to take pictures of abandoned buildings, this will feel like a treat. You have to go here on foot. Just park your car across the road and take a short walk towards the factory (crossing the railroad). Be careful on your way to the factory, and also watch your step when you take photos. As with many hotspots in Spain, there are no warning signs, fences or other measures to keep visitors safe. Which is a good thing, because the authenticity is kept this way.

    Bar Restaurante los Cabezos

When you are here at the weekend we recommend this restaurant to have lunch. You can have tapas, medium rations or complete plates. If you order tapas you can have a taste of different kinds of food. Also, it is fun to share. Beware the restaurant is closed on weekdays. If you are here on one of those days, drive south to Palma del Rio, where you have a lot of restaurants to chose from.

This washing place is from the 16th century. It was here where the women of the village did their laundry, but the main part of their visit was to have chitchat on all the ins and outs of the town residents. There are many of these places to be found in Andalusia.
