- Hike through the forest and around reflective lakes at Nuuksio National Park.
- Get close to and hand-feed reindeer at Nuuksio Reindeer Park.
- Take an interisland drive by following the Small Archipelago Trail.
In Finland, you never have to venture too far out of a city to experience pure and pristine nature. Just 30 kilometres outside Helsinki is Nuuksio National Park. It's a common place for people living in the capital city to go for their nature fix. However, its popularity doesn't mean that it's crowded — it's actually very peaceful.
Then explore a collection of islands off the coast of Turku, Finland's oldest city and former capital. By driving from island to island, across bridges and on ferries, you'll see stunning waterways, small island communities, uninhabited islands, and more flourishing forests.

Knocking on Nature's Door
Start your trip with a hike through the forest oasis of Nuuksio National Park. While the brilliant blue lakes or verdant evergreens are usually enough to evoke a sense of awe, the neighbouring reindeer park will surely feel like a magical experience as you get to know the friendly rescue animals who live there.

Coasting From Island to Island
Today it is planned to go around the Small Archipelago Trail, a driving route throughout the collection of islands off the coast of Turku which is connected by bridges and ferry transfers. It's the mini version of the full Archipelago Trail, which takes several days to complete. Despite being a shorter circuit, the Small Archipelago Trail still packs in some amazing nature sites, many of which you can take in from the car window.
