In the early XVII century, on the way to Moscow, Marina Mnishek stopped and prayed in the church in Nikolsko-Vyazemy.
At the altar of the temple rest the ashes of Nicholas Sergeyevich Pushkin, who died at the age of six years, younger brother of Alexander Pushkin. Alexander himself and his grandmother, Maria Alexeevna, and his sister Olga went to the Transfiguration Church from Zakharov, to Sunday Liturgy.
The War of 1812 crippled the church. Some shrines of the temple were taken to Moscow and there are hidden in the ground, in the gardens of private homeowners.
