Draga #33

Gold drag #33 was brought to Nevyanskiy mine in 2003. It took two years to assemble and launch it. Today this dredge is considered one of the best in Russia.

Администрация Висимского Заповедника

[Visimsky Zapovednik]( was established to preserve the unique ecosystems of the South-Taiga Central Ural Lowland. You can safely go to the Reserve for the whole day. Due to the small amount of time, it is probably worthwhile to limit your visit to the nearby landscapes or visit the Museum of Nature of the Visimsky Reserve.

Zhadina Govyadina

After such a busy day, you're sure to be hungry! We suggest having dinner at Greedy Beef Steakhouse. The name speaks for itself - beef and other meats are cooked here with dignity. And the interior will remind you of western taverns.

Day 2: Original architecture and traditional Urals crafts

In the morning we enjoy the services of the hotel, and then go to the town of Nevyansk, one of the oldest cities in the Urals. Having admired the inclined tower, we drive to the ancient Old Believers' village Byngi with a very unusual church. Then we will attend a master class on making traditional Tavolga ceramics. On the way back we will stop at the "Nevyansk Icon House" with the most valuable collections of Old Believers' icons.

Nevyansk Tower

Park next to the main attraction of Nevyansk - the leaning tower. It was built in 1721-1725 by order of Akinfy Demidov, the founder of the mining industry in the Urals. So why is the tower leaning sideways, like the Pisa legend? Experts are still in doubts: whether it is a specific idea of the architect, or a mistake during construction. Or groundwater is to blame. Once upon a time, the 57-meter high structure served as a bell tower, a factory archive, a laboratory, and even a prison. On the tower is still a working clock, bought in England for the fabulous 5 thousand gold rubles. Please note, the tower is open from Tuesday to Sunday. You can order a tour by phone: +7 (34356) 4-45-09.

Smotrovaya Ploshchadka

Small and cozy Nevyansk is a great example of careful attitude to the historical heritage. The majestic cathedral, the leaning tower, the museum, the monuments to Peter and Demidov - everything is in excellent condition and ready to welcome visitors!

Khram Nikolaya Chudotvortsa V Byn'gakh

The next destination is the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Byngi. The church itself is very beautiful, and with curious peculiarities. Not only for the Urals, but for Russia as a whole, it is very rare for a church bell tower to have chimes. The clock is not running now, but they say that the clock mechanism is in good working order.

Crystal Cellar Café.

It's lunch time! We're going to the Crystal Crystal Cellar in the village of Upper Tavolgi. One of the few cafes in the vicinity pleases with a good range of dishes and adequate prices. The café usually hosts tourist groups, so it is better to call there in advance (+7 982-658-17-30).

Tavolozhskaya ceramics

The Tavolozhsky region is famous for its ceramics production. Russian handicrafts have been flourishing in this region since the end of the 17th century, when deposits of red clay are represented here. "Ceramic" tours are held daily from 09:00, except Monday and Tuesday. The tour includes a story about pottery and life of Old Believers, as well as master classes: working on a potter's wheel, making the famous Tavolozhskaya whistle, casting products in plaster form or mastering Tavolozhskaya angobe painting. You can find out the cost of the tour and the administration phone number [here](

Nevyansk Icon Museum

We return to Nevyansk to visit one last important attraction - the Museum "House of Nevyansk Icons". The private museum, which has been in existence for more than 20 years, features more than 700 icons from the 18th-20th centuries. Among them there are not so many of the Nevyansk Old Believers' creations. The fact is that Old Believer icon painters had a difficult life: during the persecution, they had to write in secret. So each icon is considered a precious treasure. Nevyansk icons are geographical: the masters were not afraid to give real architecture and real landscapes. "Nevyansk hills - you can't confuse them with anything else," says museum founder Evgeny Roizman. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Monday.
