From El Prat to Sitges, Passing By Castelldefels: Discover the Costa Del Garraf!

To begin the day, drive 30 minutes outside of Barcelona to reach the Semàfor view point. Drop your car at this parking and head to the Mirador on foot!

This site, dating from the end of the 19th century (1887), was used to control maritime traffic. To access it, you'll have to go up a ramp, as it was built three meters above sea level to avoid being affected by the tides.
Today it serves as a viewpoint of the beach, since this beach is closed to the public. Enjoy the view and get ready for a day on this beautiful Spanish seaside.

Drop your car at this parking and head to the beach walking!

You'll then make a stop in Gavà, a small city on the coast where the beach is wide, and the tourists seems farther. Enjoy a first swim in the clear water of the Mediterranean Sea.

15 minutes away from Gavà is Castelldefels, another small town located beside the sea. Grab a coffee in the old town and sit under the shadow of palm trees. This square on the Passeig Marítim is also a meeting point for artists exhibiting their paintings as well as skaters.

For lunch, you'll head to the Tibu-Ron Beach Club. The menu of Tibu-Ron Beach Club bets on Mediterranean cuisine based on seafood tapas, meat and fish dishes, prepared with Km0 quality products.
The occasion to taste the restaurant's specialty: the house paella or the fideuas: a seafood dish originally from the coast of Valencia that is similar to paella but with noodles instead of rice.

After lunch, you'll be visiting the Castelldefels castle, a nice way to escape the hotter hours of the day. Castelldefels's castle is situated 59 meters above sea-level and was built in the 16th century as a frontier fortress. The oldest part of the castle is the Santa Maria Church, which was constructed in the 10th century. You could decide to book an audio commentary or a tour guide to have additional information on the history of this beautiful location!
In winter, the castle is only open for visits on Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And during summer, from Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

After visiting the castle, why not sunbathe a bit on the wonderful beach of Castelldefels. As quiet as the one in Gava, the beach might get buzzy during the summer but no worries at the contrary of Barcelona's beach, those natural places are wider and should always be able to find a good spot to spread your pareo.

In the middle of Parc del Garraf, you’ll find this modern Buddhist monastery. It is located in a 19th century palace, and you’ll have the possibility to visit the museum and learn more about Buddhist art, relax in this beautiful area of spiritualism, or even carry out some Zen workshops!
The monastery is open for visits from Wednesday until Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Before having dinner, grab a drink of wine at Cal Polinari, a typical Catalan farmhouse located in the outskirts of Sant Jaume dels Domenys, surrounded by vineyards. Try one of the delicious white wines of the region or even a glass of vermouth, the local specialty!
