Cortijo del Fraile
A place with a lot of history in the interior of Cabo de Gata. This now abandoned farmhouse was the inspiration for the writer Garcia Lorca to publish his book Bodas de Sangre (Blood Wedding), one of the best publications made by the author.
The place was also the setting for the filming of several movies, among them The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Apart from the fact that it is in ruins, reaching the farmhouse allows you to see the rugged landscape of the interior of Cabo de Gata, where for many years there was a proliferation of mines for the extraction of minerals.

Las Salinas de Cabo de Gata
As if all the things seen in Cabo de Gata were not enough, there are still surprises to come, such as this salt marsh. Just meters from the sea and on the road, there is a viewpoint where you can watch birds such as herons and flamingos enjoying the salt mine.
The old infrastructure of the place is also preserved, with the beautiful church and the houses of the staff working in the salt mine, originally from the beginning of the 20th century.
The salt mine is still in operation today. A small part of the salt extracted is sold to restaurants in the area, so if you season your food, you will know that the salt comes from this salt pan.
