From Linz to Salzburg: The Ceramic City of Gmunden

One of the first and most important historical places we will visit is Mirable Palace, which is included in the UNESCO list.
This monument of history and architecture can rightly be called the heart of Salzburg. This place is a reflection of the love of Prince Bishop Wolf Dietrich von Ratenau for his beloved Solomy Alt, because it was for his chosen one that the prince erected a palace in 1606, originally called Altenau.
On the territory adjacent to the palace there is the Mirabel Park, which is as popular as the palace itself.
In winter, the park is transformed into a location of fairytale films. The magnificent marble hall of the palace, the walls of which remember how Leopold Mozart and his son Wolfgang Amadeus worked, deserves a separate description.
The Marble Hall is recognized as the most beautiful wedding venue in Austria.

Salzburg is home to St. Peter's Monastery, the oldest Christian monastery in the German-speaking part of Europe, founded in 696.
On the territory of the monastery there are many places imbued with the spirit of history. For example, a very old cemetery with centuries-old graves.
On the territory of the cemetery is the church of St. Margaret, built in late Gothic style.
An important part of the monastery are the catacombs, cut by Christians into the steep rock of Mount Menchsberg, which have served for centuries as a home and resting place for monks on a spiritual quest. The catacombs can be visited at any time of the year.
There is a bakery and restaurant in the monastery where you can enjoy delicious monastic wine and bread as well as dishes prepared according to ancient monastic recipes.
The center of the monastery is the Church of St. Peter, built in 1143. The church has been reconstructed several times and over time has acquired Baroque features while retaining elements of the Romanesque style, which in turn makes it unique in its own way.
The interior decoration of the church is strikingly decorated and at the same time lightly painted. At the altar, a 15th century statue of the Madonna has been preserved.

One of the brightest attractions of Salzburg is the Residentsplatz Square, which was named after the residences of the Archbishops of Salzburg.
The square that has survived to this day took on a look in the 17th century. This was preceded by the need to move the official residence of the rulers of the Salzburg Principality to a more comfortable location from the medieval castle of Hohensalzburg.
The Archbishop's residence, also known as the Old Residence, is located on the west side of the square. Its magnificent exterior and interior decoration was formed in the course of 100 years with the participation of the famous Austrian architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrand.
On the east side of Rizidentsplatz Square is the New Residence, the main feature of which is the Glockenspiel Tower with its ancient clock and 35 bells that announce the melodic ringing of the neighborhood three times a day. The Salzburg Museum is housed in the building itself, where objects related to the different stages of the city's development are constantly exhibited and help to learn more about its rich history.
