From Bonnard at Le Cannet to Picasso in Mougins

This museum is the first one in France dedicated to Bonnard. It is located in the hotel Saint-Vianney, a beautiful building. Bonnard spent the last 20 years of his life in Le Cannet making the town famous with his paintings dedicating more than 300 paintings to the place. You can admire many masterpieces in this museum including sculptures, posters and photographs with rotating exhibits.

The Saint Savior Chapel dates back from the 14th to 15th century. It was decorated by the artist Theo Tobiasse in 1989. There is a big mosaic to ornate the façade, but also big frescoes inside. It represents some of his life story.

Have lunch at this bistrot on the square in front of the chapel. There is a nice formula for lunch, it is well served and delicious with good wines.

The MACM is an amazing museum with 4 floors. It showcases antiquities from Ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt as well as a big collection of old arms and armors. And there is a big collection, more than 100 of pieces of art by Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Dali, Cezanne, Rodin, Dufy, Andy Warhol, Rubens, etc.

This photography museum shows photography objects like old cameras. But it also shows lots of photographies of Picasso by famous photographers like Doisneau, Lartigue and Andre Villiers who lived in Mougins as well.

Walk around the historical center of Mougins, it is very nice. It is located 260 meters above sea level and offers great views of the bay of Cannes and the Lerins islands (check out the road trip to visit Cannes and the Lerins islands) as well as the Alps on the other side. Check out the main square and walk around the streets "rue des orfevres" and "rue des lombards".

This is a typical provençal site that seduced Picasso. He lived in a property here from 1961 until his death in 1973. You can visit the chapel and walk around this beautiful place. Great views of Mougins and the surroundings.

If you visit in Winter and it is already closed, it is still worth checking out from outside.

Have a walk in this nice forest park with nice pathways and botanical route. The small lake hosts the biggest collection of lotus flowers in Europe. You will also be able to observe a lot of birds, there are 70 different species, you will see nice ducks, very beautiful and peaceful place.

Mougins is very famous for its gastronomy, there is even a gastronomy festival in June every year.
L'Amandier is the restaurant of Denis Fetisson, a renowned gastronomical chef. You will enjoy the famous "cuisine du soleil" which means sun cuisine in French and is typical from South France. There are several rooms including a "salon Picasso" with decorations dedicated to the famous painter, but the most pleasant place is the terrace with amazing views of the surroundings with nice weather.
