Perfect for beachcombing or strolling, this section of coast features low sandy dunes and is connected to a lot of the other attractions in the area. You can camp here, but the area is also perfectly suitable to day use.

Coquille River Lighthouse

The Coquille River Lighthouse was built in 1895 to help ships navigate from the sea into the Coquille River. The trail up to the lighthouse is just 0.3 miles, taking only about seven minutes to complete. It’s located at the southernmost end of Bullards Beach. From here you have nice views of the river and the ocean.

Salt marshes, mudflats and forested wetlands are accessible via trails. This ecologically diverse area is a place where juvenile salmon and trout can mature safely, and the many invertebrates in the mudflats make this a stopover site for tens of thousands of shorebirds every autumn and spring.

Prehistoric Gardens

This is a roadside attraction that you’re unlikely to find anywhere else. Among the foliage of southern Oregon’s coastal forest, you’ll find 23 life-size sculptures of dinosaurs. These scientifically-correct reconstructions combine adventure and education for the whole family. Admission is $8 for children and $12 for adults. The gravel path is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
