Snorkel and Hike In Key Largo
Your first day in the Florida Keys is spent in Key Largo, where you'll dive into the United States' first undersea park, and hike a fantastically preserved landscape in a State Park that boasts more than 80 protective species of plants and animals.
10:003 hrs
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park
Dive right into Key Largo, Florida, at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first underwater park in the United States spanning 70 square miles. You can don your mask and snorkel and see what’s living under the water’s surface right from the shoreline, but you may join one of the park’s snorkeling tours for access to coral reefs teeming with brightly colored tropical fish.
The park’s snorkeling tours last two and a half hours and are quite popular, so you'll want to be sure to plan ahead and make reservations.
Be sure to bring along your mask and snorkel if you have a set (rentals are available), as well as a towel, a hat, sunglasses, and some water and snacks to enjoy afterwards. Apply reef-safe sunscreen ahead of your tour to ensure the coral survives and thrives for generations to come.

Lazy Lobster
All that snorkeling and swimming around is sure to fuel your appetite. After you’ve dried off and pulled on your swimsuit coverup, grab a table at Lazy Lobster Seafood Restaurant just outside the park’s entrance.
This casual lunch and dinner spot has plenty on the menu to satiate everyone’s appetite; not surprisingly, lobster plays a starring role. Aside from lobster, choose something light like the Crab & Asparagus Salad, or dig into something heartier like sandwiches and burgers.
