Rock Art in the Hail Region

These cave drawings are extremely impressive archaeological finds. The site includes more than 1,405 pieces of rock art, which contain 6,618 individual animal images. They are believed to be the earliest depiction of dogs and human hunters: the carvings date back to 9,000 or 8,000 BC. The images have been known among the Bedouin for centuries but only came to the government's attention in 2001.
Take a photo of these fairy drawings to remember the moment.

    Rajajil Columns

The stones, which are sometimes called the Stonehenge of Arabia, are located in the middle of the desert on a sandstone terrace and have an interesting history: they date back to the 4th millennium BC. Some people have the superstitious belief that the site was an open-air sanctuary. However, archaeological excavations have revealed that Rajajil is a burial site and represents the transformation from nomadism to sedentarism.
Attention: you must have permission from the Tourism Authority to visit the columns. Contact phone: +966-11-8808855.

    Zaabal Castle

This fort is the highest point in the area. You will reach the top of the mountain in the northwest corner of Saudi Arabia and look at fantastic panoramic city views. Zaabal Castle is a centuries-old structure: it is so old that some people think it was built before the rise of Islam. The castle was made to protect the city at the top of the water well system that goes along the entire city and has been a source of water supply to the city’s inhabitants for centuries. There is only one winding road here, so you won't get confused.
