    Face You Fear of Heights

Face your fear of heights by walking El Caminito del Rey (The king's little path). It used to be closed because it was in a poor state and too dangerous to walk. But still, thrill-seekers and adventures found their way here. After 4 of them fell to their death, the government decided the path needed a serious upgrade. The reconstructions took a couple of years, and the path reopened in 2018. At this moment, you can walk it safely, but because it's high above the ground and only one meter at its widest, it's still a thrilling adventure.

From Álora you put 'El Kiosko' in the navigation system of your car. It's a beautiful drive with lots of bends and magnificent views. Slowly you will get closer to the rocky mountains. The big one you see in front is called El Huma. While driving through the magnificent landscape you will soon see a lake on your right side. Above the lake is a big hotel/restaurant: El Garganta. A beautiful spot to eat after walking the Caminito, because this is where you end up eventually. Slow down when you see the lake because there are multiple places to stop the car (on the right side of the road) and have your first look at the path. After your stops just follow your satnav to El Kiosko. It's a big restaurant in front of the lake where you can park your car for free.

You automatically end up in front of this hotel. There are some other bars around to have a drink, but don't hesitate to visit this place, because it has a beautiful view of the bridge of the Caminito. Also, prices are very fair and the quality of food and drinks is very good. In front of this hotel, at the busstop, you can get the bus back to where you parked your car earlier today. The costs of this trip are around two euros, you can pay your fee on the bus. These shuttle buses stop every 30 minutes during the week, and every hour at the weekends and holidays.
