    Presa de Arcos

In a very dry Andalusia, it is nice to spend some time near the water. Most 'lakes' you will see here are reservoirs. They are built for several reasons: to provide people with water and to enjoy sports and leisure. From here, you have a nice view of the town of Arcos de la Frontera, one of the Pueblo Blancos of Andalusia.

    Salinas de Iptuci

A 3000-year-old salt farm is what you are looking at. Isn't that amazing? You are not even close to the ocean! The farm is now owned by the Spanish family Prado del Rey who can guide you and tell you all about the history of this place (they live next door). You can ask for a tour at the spot, or call the owner in advance: +34639 46 75 12
After the tour, you can buy some salt in the little shop.

Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda

Of course you want to see the famous bridge. But on your way there you will find some interesting spots to see. You will pass a nice park that gives you shade if you need in (and some good views) and you will pass this bullring. Even if you don't approve of bull fighting it is still interesting to learn something about this controversial part of Spanish culture. The building itself is spectacular and there is an audio tour you can do. The place glorifies bullfighting, so don't expect any critical messages on the sports.

Puente Nuevo Viewpoint - the Bridge

A small path took you to this place where you can enjoy the famous bridge of Ronda. Look how the light changes on it every minute of the day. The bridge was designed as a one-arched bridge in 1735 but collapsed in 1741 killing 50 people. After that, it took 34 years of construction to come to this, much safer result. Learn more about the history of the bridge here.

So what about that mermaid? Well, you can see her in Museo Lara, which is by far the strangest museum I have ever been to, and you really need to see it. It is a private collection of the most curious things, weapons, bullfighting costumes, torture equipment and magical objects. Weird but fun!
