Defensive fortifications and fairy towns on the way to Kingisepp

The first stop on our trip will be near the famous defensive line on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, called Fort Krasnaya Gorka. On its territory there are many historical objects, including two huge artillery pieces, as well as some defensive structures.

In Sosnovy Bor, based on numerous recommendations from acquaintances, we decided to make a stop at the Andersengrad theme park. In this miniature town each object is somehow related to the works of Hans Christian Andersen. During the walk you can see a lot of funny architecture, as well as plunge into the world of well-known from childhood fairy tales. Of course, children will enjoy it more, but the place is fun.

After a stroll through the fairy tale world, we headed to a local café called Spice & Passion for lunch. Among the many dishes on the menu, we liked the pumpkin soup with riccotta and croutons, as well as the wonderful salmon with zucchini and parmesan dressing.

In the village of Koporie is quite famous ancient fortress Koporskaya. It was founded in the thirteenth century, was destroyed many times, passed from one side to the other, and only during the reign of Peter the Great the fortress was assigned to Russia. Today it is on the list of cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation, and guided tours are regularly held on its territory.

It so happened that by the time we arrived in Kingisepp, we had a little time left, which we eventually decided to spend on a walk through the historic Romanovka Park. These lands once belonged to the hero of the Great Patriotic War, General K. I. Bistrom. It was in his honor that the famous Bronze lion sculpture was erected in the center of the park.

"The Collection" is a pleasant coffee bar on Karl Marx Avenue. It was here that we wanted to have dinner after a walk in the park. In the evening it was quite lively here. We ordered a traditional borsch and salad with shrimps. By the way, there is quite a wide range of alcoholic beverages on offer.

Today was an interesting and informative day. We drove from St. Petersburg to Kingisepp and saw a lot of local sights. Tomorrow we have to go to Ivangorod, and then to Pskov, so it's worth getting a good night's sleep and getting some energy.
