Beautiful Castles with Views

The small peaceful village of Bruniquel is listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France. You can walk around the small streets. But the main attraction here is the castle of Bruniquel. There are actually 2 castles that you can visit together. The old castle is from the 12th and 13th century and the young castle is from the 15th century. From up there, you will get an amazing view of the gorges of the river Aveyron. Inside, you will some exhibits including one with photos of the film shoot of "le vieux fusil" a famous French film with Romy Schneider that was shot here in 1975.

The fortress of Penne is quite an impressive site. You will see some medieval ruins and you will learn about life in the Middle Ages. You can walk around the medieval town as well, very picturesque.

The best way to experience the spectacular natural site of the gorges of the Aveyron is on the water. Here you will be able to rent a kayak to enjoy the wonderful nature around, canyon, river, fauna and flora.

Here you can visit the city center of the small village of Montricoux. There is a castle from the 18th century. Nos it hosts the museum Marcel Lenoir who was a modern art painter. If you would like to visit inside the museum, consider arriving earlier as the museum closes at 18 hours, or you can visit it tomorrow morning before starting the route. Otherwise, you can just enjoy the beautiful village and the riverside.
