    Javea’s Coves, Natural Swimming Pools for Snorkelling

    The first day of the route will start with a stop in the colourful coastal town of Villajoyosa. Why colourful? Because of a seafaring tradition that continues to this day.
    Then you will visit the fishing village of Moraira with its castle remains and charming beaches.
    After lunch comes the best part. The route through the coves and viewpoints of Javea. Colourful fish, crystal clear water, cliffs, and a lot of peace.

    Cases Penjants de Vilajoiosa

    The river Amadorio flows through a ravine until it empties into the sea. In this particular geography, the old houses built at the top of the ravine, the back of which seems to be hanging from the ravine, stand out.
    The houses have been painted in different colours, which adds to the charm of the place.

    Las Casas de Colores

    The symbol of Villajoyosa are the colourful facades of the houses located on the seafront promenade, a custom that goes back centuries and is still maintained today.

    After the visit to the colourful houses, it is a 10 minutes walk to pick up the car.

    Castillo de Moraira

    Only a small tower remains of the castle as a souvenir, but it adds to the beauty of the promenade.
    From the coastal area where the castle is located, there is a pleasant and short walk along the harbour and the fishing atmosphere of Moraira. In addition, the Peñon de Ifach in the distance (a big rock over the sea), located in Calpe, can be seen clearly in the distance.

    Platja del Portet de Moraira

    A paradise in the middle of the village. More than a beach, it is a large cove located between the port and the cliff.
    It has a small part of stone and a larger area of fine sand. The sea is a natural swimming pool, with gentle waves and crystal clear water.
    There is parking space just a few metres from the beach. In summer, due to the influx of tourists, parking close to the beach is more difficult.

    Restaurante El Portet

    Eating with a sea view is priceless, and in this restaurant you can do it. With large windows and views of the beach, El Portet offers pastas, sandwiches, fish and meat, but its forte is paella.
    In a fishing village, the recommendation is to order the seafood paella, as the seafood will always be fresh. For dessert, the cheesecake is a delicacy.

    Cueva de los Arcos

    At one end of the Moraig cove, the erosion of the sea on the cliffs has produced large stone arches. This natural phenomenon can be seen just a few metres away from a viewpoint.
    On the way down to the viewpoint, there are views of the cove, a place very popular with nudists.
    After the visit, return to the car park (about 15 minutes) to continue on your way.

    Platja Granadella

    Classified as one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain, the Granadella cove surprises everyone who visits it with its beauty.
    Located within the Granadella forest park, its horseshoe shape, surrounded by cliffs and forests, and the turquoise colour of its waters are a year-round attraction.
    In winter, there is space in the nearest car park, next to the restaurants. In summer, it is impossible to get a parking space because there is capacity control. It is advisable to leave your car in the upper car park and take the minibus service to the cove.

    Mirador de Cap Negre

    If you want to have a panoramic view of the coast of Alicante, this viewpoint is the one for you. It can be reached on foot in just five minutes after parking your car in the surrounding streets.
    From here you can see the capes of Javea, coves and rock formations that emerge into the sea. On a day with good visibility, you can see the island of Ibiza. Sit on one of the two benches at the viewpoint and watch the spectacular scenery for a few minutes!

    Cala del Portixol

    Known for the fishermen's houses that once stood above the cove and were painted white with blue windows and doors, Portitxol cove is a little more open to the sea than Granadella cove.
    It is joined to the Barraca beach, which gives it more space for sunbathing or swimming. With a pebble floor, the sea is ideal for snorkelling.
    Just in front of the cove, you can see the island of Portichol.
    There is a car park in the upper area, a five-minute walk to the cove. In summer, it is necessary to park further away due to the large number of people.

    Located on one of the breakwaters of the port, it is a restaurant where you can have a bite to eat with a beer while watching the sunset overlooking the beach of Javea.
