From the Picturesque Leman Lake to the Magical Burgundy

Today is the first day of the itinerary. You will start by driving a bit to get to Yvoire, a picturesque village that is located at the border of the Leman lake. Enjoy the drive heading towards your destination, the view is absolutely breathtaking.

The first stop is Yvoire and the magnificent Leman Lake. The pretty 14th century village of Yvoire, listed as one of France's "Most Beautiful Villages" and winner of the national floral award, is worth a stop.
Park your car in this parking lot, so you can discover the village by foot. Enjoy the beautiful pedestrian village and its medieval vibe while heading to the first stop.

You are invited on a poetic journey in the picturesque garden of Five Sense. Explore the garden with your five senses to discover plants in this little piece of paradise. Everything is carefully arranged to please you: the beautiful pictures of flowers, the soft feel of the leaves, the aroma of a rose, and so on.

If you come here during winter, do not be upset there are many beautiful attractions in Yvoire. You can visit the stunning Saint Pancrace d'Yvoire Church, a classified monument that is a rich witness of history.

The castle of Yvoire stands like a sentinel on Lake Geneva, with its majestic silhouette. Built in the 14th century, the castle had the military purpose to monitor the navigation and to control the road bridging to Geneva and to Italy.
The castle is a private property so there is no possibility to visit the inside but the view is pretty iconic! Delve back in history, enjoy this moment and take some pictures.

After the visit of Yvoire, it is time for a well deserved break. Les Jardins du Léman is an emblematic restaurant in the village. The cuisine is delicious and the view on the lake is the cherry on top of the cake. The setting is modern and warm and the service is attentive. Their specialty are fishes and seafood but the menu will make everyone happy as it includes meat also.

It is time to leave the beautiful village of Yvoire. Let's head back to the parking lot, get in the car to continue the route. You are now going to drive through the Haut Jura national park. Enjoy the scenic drive and the magnificent landscape.

Let's have a stop on the way to take time to enjoy the panoramic view and take some pictures. The Belvédère du Cuvéry et du Catray is an orientation table offering a magnificent panoramic view of Mont Blanc and the Alps, from Lake Geneva to Lake Bourget.

You are now going to drive across a scenic road between beautiful forests and small villages. Enjoy the scenery.

Let's stop at the famous Mont Turgon and its famous rooster perched at 343m altitude.
Have a look at the magnificent view of Bugey, Bresse and Dombes. Take some pictures of the region and enjoy the change of scenery.

You have arrived in Mâcon, a well-known town in Burgundy that produces the finest chardonnay. Delve back in history by visiting the Castle Pierreclos. The place is a witness of about 1000 years of history that you can see in the outstanding architecture of the place. The vineyards cultivates Chardonnay grape variety that reveal the diversity of the terroirs. They also produce red wine.
