Yorvik to Bamburgh
Day 1 will take you to the old Viking Capital of Yorvik, now known as York! Here you will stop in at the Yorvik Viking centre and see a reconstruction of a Viking settlement, before heading off to Valhalla Bar & Restaurant for some lunch! After leaving York, you will head up North to Bamburgh castle - the fall of which marked the Viking Victory in Northumberland!

First stop, York! Probably the most famous of the Viking settlements in the UK, York, or 'Jorvik' to the Viking settlers is extremely proud of it's Viking roots and is the perfect place to begin your Viking tour!

JORVIK Viking Centre
Your first Viking attraction is the famous Jorvik Viking Centre - home to many of the Viking artifacts found along Britain's Northern Coastline as well as a reconstruction of a Viking settlement, based on buildings excavated in the local area.
The museum will take roughly an hour, but may take a little longer, so make sure to leave yourself a little breathing room!

Time for an early lunch! Named for the hall populated by fallen Viking warriors, this bar & restaurant is a great place to grab a bite to eat on your Viking tour!

After lunch, you'll be getting back in the car and heading 3 hours North to the incredible Bamburgh Castle!
Once the epicenter of the Kingdom of Northumbria, Bamburgh Castle was eventually taken by the Vikings, which spelled the end of the North East's resistance to Viking rule! Information regarding bookings and events can be found here.
