Tolo - Sparta - Mistra - Monemvasia

The medieval fortress town of Mistras, where the last Byzantine emperor, Constantine Palaeologus, was born, grew up, and ascended the throne. The archaeological complex of Mistras is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace complex and many magnificent Byzantine temples with frescoes of XIII-XIV centuries. The complex is really big and is located on a fairly steep slope, so it is better to examine the upper part first, and then go out and go down by car to the lower entrance.

Accommodation in a hotel in Monemvasia. The fortress city of Monemvasia is located on an island connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus bridge. Monemvasia means "the only entrance" in Greek. You can accommodate in the fortress itself. Very picturesque and unusual, but quite expensive hotels and a car will need to be parked on the road leading to the fortress, where you will find a place. The second option is to settle in a modern city, before entering the bridge. Parking is easier, but you will have to walk about 2 km to the fortress. In my opinion, the most successful option is the Hotel Lazareto, which is already on the island itself, 800 m from the entrance to the fortress, and where there is a parking lot. An evening walk and dinner in the fortress.
