Casa D'amore
The first house made with mortar in 1797. Before the official recognition of the city by Ferdinand IV king of Naples, it was forbidden by the local Counts to build permanent buildings, they had to be built exclusively in dry stone. Casa D'amore clearly marks the transition from an "illegal" city to a royal city. As the Latin inscription on the pediment quotes: "By the royal authority, this building was the first to be erected". Francesco D'Amore, the owner of this house, was the first citizen to build his house in the city with the use of mortar, after this buildings and trulli were built extensively with the use of mortar, a compound of lime and "vuolo "a particular local land with a reddish color. In many ancient buildings that have not yet been renovated, it is still possible to see this particular type of binder that resists to this day.

Trullo Sovrano
The grandiose trullo is exceptionally with a raised floor.now is a visitable museum, it was called "Corte Papa Cataldo".
The building was originally called Corte Papa Cataldo, a name that also referred to the entire neighborhood. This ancient name most likely derives from the family of the priest Cataldo Perta (1744-1809) who built the structure and used it as his home, while in the surrounding trulli he used the houses for his employees.
The name Corte Papa Cataldo was important, precisely in relation to some changes made to the house, apparently not faithfully respecting the ancient constraints imposed by the provisions of Count Giangirolamo Acquaviva (17th century), feudal lord which exercised control over housing. The succession of events prevented the prescriptions of the feudal lord from running and therefore the facade of the Trullo Sovrano can be safely dated to 1797 or at most to the previous year.
Over time, the building has had various uses: courtyard, chapel, apothecary, monastery, country oratory, home. In the early 1800s the relics of Saints Cosma and Damiano - patrons of Alberobello - lived there and since 1826 it was the seat of the Confraternity of the Holy Sacrament. At the end of the nineteenth century. it became the property of the Sumerano family (still owner), who made the Trullo their home. The furnishings and all the exhibits are authentic.

Oleificio Salamida Alberobello | Olio Extravergine Italiano in Puglia
Here we are for a great oil tasting!
Oleificio Salamida is a small family-run agricultural craft company, located on the hills of Alberobello just a few minutes from the historic center and the Trulli area.
Il Frantoio organizes guided tours of the company, with relative tasting and sale of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil, cold extracted from Apulian olives typical of Alberobello. It is also possible to observe the traditional process of cold pressing of olives still used today.
It has a structure that can accommodate both families and organized groups of tourists. How modern oil mills works? In these plants the extraction is carried out with a crusher where the olives are ground together with the stone; from here the olive paste is gently mixed (kneading) for less than an hour in order to favor the subsequent separation of the oil.less than half an hour's walk from the center, the kindness of the salamida family gives a taste of the real Puglia

Zona Monumentale Trulli
The whole area was built on the side of the hill near Largo Martellotta (so named for the three cisterns dug in the nineteenth century to collect rainwater).
The houses, many of which are now used for commercial purposes, are lined up along eight parallel streets (Via Monte Nero, Via Monte S. Marco, Via Monte S. Gabriele, Via Monte S. Michele, Via Monte Sabotino, Via Monte Santo, Via Monte Adamello, Via Cadore) that cut the urban fabric longitudinally. Particular are Via Monte Nero, Via Monte Pasubio, Via Monte S. Michele and Via Monte Sabotino, along which stand the oldest houses. These, in some cases, are flanked by nineteenth-century dressing rooms in terracotta, with lime, equipped with windows and balconies that increase the living space.
The "Urban and rural police regulations" that forbade the people of Alberobello to build in dry stone, as had been practiced up to now, date back to 1843. This arrangement had to be observed in all the streets of the town, except in the Monti street which, being inhabited by the poor, would have been exempt from it. This particular condition of poverty and the aforementioned law ensured the maintenance and substantial conservation of the entire urban fabric which, before the definitive abandonment of the traditional construction technique, had at least two thousand trulli. With the Royal decree of 1910 the entire district was declared a National Monument .

Gioia del Colle
The town is located on the plateau which separates the Murge of Northwest from those of Southeast, at 360 metres above sea level. It rises up halfway between the Ionian and Adriatic seas, at almost identical distances from the Lucanian centre of Matera and the Apulian cities of Bari and Taranto.
Its location, particularly prestigious for the communication routes, has given the city, since prehistoric times, a central role as a point of confluences and economic, commercial, and cultural exchanges.
Since the Neolithic Age, the territory has been inhabited by different people, leaving significant traces of their presence, that are evident today
The archaeological area of Monte Sannace, one of the most important centres of Peucetia, and the Norman-Swabian Castle, linked to the figures of Frederick II of Swabia and Bianca Lancia who gave birth to Manfred of Sicily, give testimony to the archaeological and historical-architectural significance of the town.
The rural landscape is also to be considered one of the attractive elements of this patch of Apulia, with its 16th and 17th century farms, scattered in a wonderful naturalistic space marked by ravines, caves/cave residences and woods.
Gioia del Colle is one of the most flourishing rural areas of the province and boasts a particularly significant production in the zootecnical and wine-making sectors with the Primitivo wine at the forefront. Gioia del Colle’s mozzarellas and dairy products have established themselves on markets all around Italy and beyond, for their incomparable quality.
Take your time to buy this delicious things: my favourite mozzarella are from Caseificio Milano!!!

Cantine Polvanera
... from stone
Polvanera was born from a long family tradition that has always had roots in viticulture. Located in Puglia between Acquaviva delle Fonti and Gioia del Colle, the cellar, dug for 8 meters into the limestone rock, is immersed in a unique landscape characterized by vineyards, dry stone walls and oak barrels. Together with the support of the family, Filippo Cassano continues to carry out an ambitious project, aimed at enhancing the primitivo and other indigenous grape varieties. The synthesis between innovation and tradition has given life to wines strongly linked to the territory, with characteristic notes of elegance, drinkability and extraordinary freshness. recommend!
