You cannot leave the Trapani coast without making a trip to Favignana, the biggest of the Egadi Islands! So, if you take the Liberty lines boats, you can reach Favignana in about 40 minutes! So I suggest an half day tour to the island!

    Favignana

In the morning at about 9:30 you will arrive to the island of Favignana is 9 km long and 4 km wide. Its peculiar shape makes it look like a butterfly with outstretched wings divided into two parts by the hill of Santa Caterina, which with its 300 meters is the highest point. Currently the island of Favignana has 3407 residents.

As a last stop, I suggest to visit the Regional "Agostino Pepoli" museum which houses: • paintings, with a wide representation of the artistic culture in western Sicily between the thirteenth and nineteenth centuries; • sculptures, including those of the Gagini school, which greatly influenced statuary in Sicily; • Trapanese handicraft cribs, characterized by manufacturing in Wood, Canvas and Glue; • goldsmith's art, with jewels belonging to the treasure of the Madonna of Trapani, silver of the Trapani tradition and above all some very valuable works in coral, a material that had an important production and processing center in Trapani, so much so that it became a peculiarity of local craftsmanship; • sacred vestments, acquired with the subversive laws of 1867 to the patrimony of the State, as well as period clothing that belonged to the Trapani nobility; • majolica, among which the pavements depicting tuna fishing, a very important productive activity in the area, stand out; • relics of the Risorgimento, testimony of the participation of the province in the unification of Italy. You will leave Trapani with your eyes full of great art! Hope you enjoyed my road trip around the Trapanese coast! See you again in Sicily!
