If you want a great lunch in a friendly place, my suggestion is to go to the "Baglio Fontanasalsa" a Mediterranean restaurant. "My Guests are my Friends", are the words of Marika Burgarella, the owner of this ancient Baglio dating back to the end of the 18th century, while she is welcoming her guests. In the early afternoon you will go to see the salt pans of the Stagnone di Marsala, a magical place, out of time. An evocative, breathtaking natural landscape of rare beauty for its colors, scents, for the slow rhythms of the sea waves that gently rock the small fishing boats, for the emotions that the sunsets arouse, for its white salt pans with windmills. The Reserve takes its name from the "Stagnone", a lagoon that extends from Punta Alga to San Teodoro and which also includes four islands: Mozia, where the very first Phoenician settlement was found, Isola Grande or Lunga, Schola and Santa Maria. This is the largest lagoon in Sicily and is characterized by very shallow waters. The Stagnone Nature Reserve extends from the north coast of Marsala, overlooking the Egadi archipelago and continuing to the city of Trapani. As I told you, the Stagnone in antiquity, particularly in the Phoenician era, was a strategically important place for the presence of Mozia, an influential and safe Phoenician trading center for trade between East and West. The period of splendor of the Stagnone ended with the Roman conquest and remained silent until the threshold of the modern age.

Crossing of the lagoon, thanks to the boats that depart at regular times every 30 minutes, is an experience you will not forget! In 10 minutes you will arrive on the islet of Mozia, and a nice walk will make you discover the few archaeological Phoenician remains.

The very first thing to do, after your arrive on the islet, is to enter the Whitaker Museum. The museum is dedicated to its founder, Joseph Whitaker, a famous English ornithologist who devoted his fortune to doing archaeological excavations. It also contains remains discovered in Lilibeo, the ancient name of Marsala. Her you will admire the beautiful findings preserved in the museum, including the incredible marble sculpture of the Charioteer, which will leave you ecstatic for its beauty! After visiting the museum, take your time to walk around the island to discover the archaeological remains around and the ancient walls of the great battle between Dionysius of Syracuse, the tyrant of the city, and the Carthaginians, in 397 BC, during the Sicilian Greek-Punic wars.

After your discovering of Mothya, have a break, take a cocktail and have your wonderful couscous dinner, if you want, in the "Mamma Caura" restaurant: here your relax time will be accompanied by one of the most famous sunset in the world!
