Historical Sites of Castile

The most suitable place to start the day would be the small and familiar La Malquerida café. The interior of the place is simple, but still very cozy. There are famous windmills near a town of Consuegra, with which Don Quixote fought, this is one of the cities with well-preserved windmills.

After a long walk in the countryside, you can take a short break and go to one of the popular local restaurants, Tapería Gaudí, for lunch. It's a Mediterranean cuisine, with a variety of fish and seafood specialties on the menu. The desserts, sometimes served in a very original form, are also worth mentioning.

Castle of Belmonte is one of the well-preserved medieval castles of this region.

It's a good time to go to the hotel after a rather long drive. You can check in right away, or you can leave your things in the luggage room for a short while and go on your further walk.

Cuenca is an ancient Spanish city located on the rocks, surrounded by deep gorges, it is famous for its "hanging houses" (casas colgadas), situated over the abyss.

In the city there are quite a lot of different cafes, each of which deserves attention. It is certainly worth stopping at CASAS COLGADAS. The atmosphere here is very cozy and relaxing. On the menu there are mostly dishes of Mediterranean cuisine, among which the meat delicacies are especially popular.

The day is coming to a close, so it's worth going to the hotel to rest. For today we drove quite a few kilometers, saw a lot of historical places and beautiful views. Tomorrow we are going to get to know Cuenca in more detail, as well as a little trip out of town in the countryside.
