Let me introduce this church: The 16th century Manduria Matrix Church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, although the patron saint is Saint Gregory the Great. The church was built at the end of the fifteenth century on the remains of a smaller medieval church and is set in the heart of the historic center right in front of the arch that introduced the Jewish quarter. The protector of the city, San Gregorio Magno, is represented by the papier-mâché statue made in 1786 by the Neapolitan brothers Trilocco.
