Charm of an old castle

Immerse yourself once again in Portugal's historical past. This castle has also been listed as a World Heritage Site and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Guimarães Castle is a reminder that the whole of Portugal once occupied the territory of the smallest city and later expanded its holdings during the Reconquista. The castle itself is in the shape of a heraldic shield in plan. It retains four towers, a small number of gates, and a bridge across the moat.
