The main place that must be seen is one of the nine shrines of Asia - the rock Shamanka or Stone Temple. This rock is a sacred place among the locals and the indigenous peoples of North Asia in general. It was a tradition here that ordinary people weren't allowed to live near the Shamanaka, and women and children weren't allowed to get close to this powerful place so as not to anger the gods. Olkhon was considered to be a place where evil spirits had always lived. According to the most ancient legends, the lord of Olkhon - Ezhin or Burkhan - lived in the cave of the Shamanka Cliff. Near the cave there are ancient artifacts preserved on the rocks in the form of Tibetan graffito. There are tambourines painted on the marble rock. Important: this place is great to visit in the winter. In summer, there are queues of jeeps lined up here, and they are stationed all over the island, which distracts from admiring the surroundings.
You can come here at dawn. The view is simply magical. Here tourists also like to watch the sunset, sitting on a wooden fence.

Cape Burkhan, where the Shaman Rock is located, has the status of a state natural and historical monument and is located within the Pribaikalsky National Park, which is enclosed by carved poles shown in the photo.
