Discovering the Historic Seaside Towns of Bursa After A Hearty Breakfast by Sapanca Lake
Day one is a day of nature, sea and history. Your trip will begin from Istanbul to the east to start the day with a hearty breakfast by Sapanca Lake. The natural scenery of Masukiye waterfall will be a brief coffee stop before heading to the lazy seaside towns of Mudanya and Tirilye. In these towns, you'll see a handful of historic Ottoman houses and Byzantine churches and witness the Independence War of Türkiye. You'll stay overnight in Bursa, in a hotel that conveniently has a modern Turkish bath for you to relax and unwind.

This peaceful restaurant is located just on the shores of Sapanca Lake, where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast after your long drive while watching the blue tranquil lake. Cherkes people had immigrated to this region in the 19th century and therefore, most restaurants here serve Cherkes breakfast. Try the homemade butter with herbs, fried dough, scrambled eggs with tomatoes and pepper and the infamous circassian cheese. They will keep bringing the freshly brewed Turkish tea until you say it's enough. You can also take a short walk by the lake after breakfast.

Located only 15 minutes drive away from Sapanca Lake, Masukiye Waterfall is inside a lush forest. There are some cafes with wooden decks overlooking the waterfall and the rivers around. Have a traditional Turkish coffee and listen to the waterfall before getting back to the road.
