    Day two of your Wye Valley road trip will begin with breakfast at The Old Electric Shop in Hay-on-Wye. Described as 'Hay's hippiest cafe' and 'fabulous and quirky', the community atmosphere and tasty food here makes it well worth a visit.     The Cosy Cafe

    Hay Castle

    After lunch, take a look around the striking Hay Castle. In its 900-year history, it only opened to the public for the very first time in March 2022 after a major renovation project, so it's a sight you won't want to miss while you're in the area! The castle was originally built in the late 12th century by Lord William de Braose, and was then rebuilt the following century by Henry III. History lovers will enjoy learning about the landmark's rich and fascinating past, and visitors can also grab a cup of coffee and a few light refreshments from the on-site Hay Castle Cafe.     The Warren Parking

    Complete the afternoon with a quiet and peaceful walk through the Warren – a gorgeous riverside meadow and a designated area of Special Scientific Interest (SSI). Located around 5-minutes away from the centre of Hay-on-Wye, the Warren makes a beautiful place to walk, sit, swim or paddle. You can take your car 1/3 of the way to a very small parking area, which is approximately a 10-minute walk from main road. Stretch your legs here and enjoy the leafy green scenery before beginning the journey back to Cardiff.

    The Bear Hotel, Crickhowell
