Westward to the Water

Start the route off right with a visit to Buckskin Mountain State Park. This small park is a beautiful oasis nestled between two dams on the Colorado River. While there are plenty of short hikes and a boat launch, even just stopping for a quick swim in the designated swimming area is well worth the vehicle fee.

Have lunch at the cozy resort restaurant at Havasu Springs. This tasty spot offers a huge menu with something to suit any diner. After lunch, it is time to learn a bit more about this important water source and view some surrounding protected environment. Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge is an endlessly photographable park dedicated to preserving this wetland area. With a huge variety of birds, reptiles and other water-dependent creatures, Bill Williams has lots to do. After learning at the visitor center, decide whether you would like to fish, take a hike, or go bird watching.

It may surprise you, but the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City is Arizona's second-most popular tourist attraction, behind only the Grand Canyon. Purchased and reconstructed in this river town, the London Bridge serves as a unique landmark. Poke around and snap some pictures before heading to the Beach Park. With plenty to do, such as walking trails, public swimming, and more, London Bridge Beach is worth dipping your toes in.
