Getting to know Vyborg

Well, we're in Vyborg! Let's start with a tasting of the pretzel of the same name, the recipe for which has come down to us from the Franciscan monks themselves.
We are going to visit a cozy souvenir shop of local craftsmen and café with its ginger owner - cat Kuzma Voldemarovich, who will probably even accompany us to a cup of coffee.

We are visiting the oldest square in Vyborg, which, by the way, has not changed externally since the 17th century. A photo in memory of the founder of the Vyborg Castle, Swedish Marshal Torgils Knuttson, and we actually go to the castle.

Here it is, the main attraction of the city - the castle, founded by the Swedes in the XIII century. A curious fact: it's the only castle on the water in Russia! In addition, it is also completely preserved, despite numerous sieges.
Important: on Monday, the castle is closed.

It's a good time to eat in an atmospheric tavern, as befits a true hungry knight.
The place is very authentic indeed, from the food on offer to the burning candles all around and the waiters in period costume.
Be prepared for the fact that the restaurant is popular and you may have to wait in line for a bit, but the cuisine and atmosphere of the place will make up for these small inconveniences.

Let's go in search of peace and inspiration to the island of Tverdysh, to the picturesque park of Monrepo (translated from French as Mon Repos - "my peace"). The park is famous for its unique granite landscape. Once there was a glacier that underwent several earthquakes.
You can walk around the park on your own or with a guide. Excursion "The amazing nature of Monrepo" (1,5 hours) is suitable for families with children. More information can be found on official website of the park.
Important: the Park of Monrepo is in partial reconstruction until autumn 2020. It is possible that some areas of the park will be closed.

As dusk falls, climb the Old Town Hall Tower to see the scenery of winter Vyborg.

When buying tickets please read the rules for visiting the Town Hall Tower. Entrance to the tower is possible only from the age of 10 years, without animals.
The number of visitors is limited, so be sure to sign up in advance at website.

Vyborg Castle in presets is especially good. We will see it for ourselves by walking along the quay and looking at it from a new perspective.
Let's stop at the Viking drakkars - the 24-meter ships that got Vyborg after the filming of "And on the rocks grow trees", and hurry up to the restaurant.

We deserve a hearty dinner. That's exactly what they specialize in here. The emphasis on meat dishes on the menu, as you can guess from the name.
